A National Town Hall Series to Support Public Education
Across the country, public schools are under siege. Federal relief dollars are being clawed back. Proposed budget cuts threaten vital programs like Title I, special education, and civil rights enforcement. Communities that were promised investment are instead being left behind—again. In response, the Public Education Alliance is launching a national town hall series to confront these escalating threats head-on. In partnership with local leaders, educators, students, and members of Congress, we are traveling to the frontlines of this fight to elevate stories, build power, and demand accountability.
Why This Town Hall Series Matters
It Exposes a Pattern of Harm. From revoked funding to proposed federal cuts, a clear pattern is emerging—one that undermines our public education system and puts millions of students at risk.
It Centers the Communities Most Affected. We’re starting where the impact is deepest: school districts serving low-income communities and students of color. These town halls are a chance for those voices to lead the conversation.
It Builds a National Narrative. This is more than a series of events. It’s a movement to connect the dots between local stories and national policy decisions—making clear what’s at stake for every public school in America.
It Fuels Sustained Advocacy. Each town hall will generate content, connections, and commitments. From student testimonials to press coverage, we’ll amplify what happens in each room and carry it forward to legislators, funders, and allies across the country.
We’re Turning Frustration Into Action
At each stop in this series, we’ll bring together students, families, educators, and elected leaders to speak out and organize. These gatherings are more than forums—they are launching pads for local organizing, legislative advocacy, and national movement-building.
Stand With Us. Speak Out. Show Up.
Public education is the foundation of our democracy. This town hall series is about protecting that foundation—before it’s too late.
Join Us in the Heart of America for Our First Town Hall
We’re launching our national town hall series in East St. Louis, Illinois—a community that reflects the resilience, challenges, and promise at the core of the public education movement. Featuring Congresswoman Budzinski, NEA President Becky Pringle, and AFT President Randi Weingarten, this event will bring together students, educators, families, and advocates to share their experiences and organize for lasting change.
